Tributes have been flooding in from the equestrian community following the tragic death of Claire Lowe (Millhouse) who sadly died yesterday following a fall out hunting.

Lowe was the owner and operator of Mill House Equestrian Centre in Saintfield, Co Down and was out hunting in the New Line area of Ballygowan with the North Down Foxhounds when she fell from her horse.

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service told the Belfast Telegraph a rapid response paramedic was called to the incident at around 3.20pm. However they were unable to save the rider and she died from her injuries.

The 39-year-old rider was a well known judge on the Connemara scene and today the Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society said it was “deeply saddened by the news of the tragic loss of Claire Lowe. Claire was a CPBS ridden and working hunter judge. Our deepest sympathies go out to Claire’s family and friends. Rest in peace.”

Lowe also competed at Eventing Ireland EI90 amateur level, riding the Courage gelding Have The Courage at Knockany, Lisgarvan House, Loughanmore and Maddybenny this year.
