A woman pedestrian in her 70s has died after being struck by a truck in Co Monaghan.

The collision happened at around midday on Main Street in Carrickmacross.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

Diversions are in place and the road will remain closed for technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators at scene.
