Earlier Sarah Pierce, chair of the board of Project Arts Centre, explained why it was removed. Chris Froome’s crash was accident waiting to happen due to Tour’s growth

Mont Ventoux is often described as a mountain with a personality and a particularly malevolent one at that, so the bizarre Bastille Day finish at Chalet Reynard seemed somehow in character for a mountain which has ended dreams, careers and lives when the Tour de France has scaled its heights.

The sight of the yellow jersey, Chris Froome, running up Mont Ventoux without his bike was surreal, on a par with the episode at Gap in 2003 whenLance Armstrong was forced to take a short cut across a field to avoid a crash and ran back on to the road with his bike on his shoulder, cyclocross style.

The chaos on the road was followed by confusion among race officials over the yellow...

Cliff Richard starts legal action over police raid

The 75-year-old Living Doll star, who was on holiday in Portugal when South Yorkshire Police officers stormed his Berkshire home in 2014, claims his reputation was "unnecessarily damaged" by the raid. A police source tipped the BBC off about the plans to search his home, which he has since sold, for evidence linked to allegations of sexual offences between 1958 and 1983. Richard was cleared of charges last month after Crown Prosecution Service officials ruled there was a lack of evidence. He has now instructed his lawyers to make "formal legal complaints" to South Yorkshire Police and the BBC, claiming bosses at both parties were wrong to air the raid live before any charges had been brought against him. Nick Young escapes fireworks accident

Iggy Azalea's ex-fiance Nick Young had a close call on America's Independence Day holiday (04Jul16) after a firework exploded in his hand. The basketball star was hosting a party at the Tarzana, California home he once shared with rapper Iggy, when the day turned into night and Nick decided to light up the sky overhead. The fun almost turned into a disaster, however, when the host picked up a firework, which had already been lit, and set it off while holding it over his head. Video footage of the incident, posted by a guest on Snapchat, shows partygoers gasping as a smiling Nick grabs the pyrotechnic device from the ground and proudly holds it up in the air - only to recoil as the firework explodes in...
