Red Devil parachutist 'owes pint' after mid-air accident - BBC News

A Red Devil parachutist has said he owes his colleague a pint of beer after the pair got tangled in mid-air but safely reached the ground. Cpl Mike French, 34, was performing at the Whitehaven Air Show in Cumbria on Friday when the accident happened. His parachute wrapped around Cpl Wayne Shorthouse but they managed to land in the harbour. Cpl Shorthouse, 32, from Plymouth, said he was no hero and both men had been trained for such a scenario. Cork farmer airlifted to hospital after bull accident

An elderly farmer suffered serious injuries as he was handling cattle in Macroom. A 70-year-old man was seriously injured in a farming accident in Carrigadrohid, Macroom, Co Cork on Tuesday evening. The Gardai said the farmer was putting bulls in a pen when one of them kicked him in the chest. The man was taken to the Macroom GAA pitch by ambulance, from where the Air Corp’s Medevac helicopter airlifted him to Cork University Hospital. A spokesman for the Defence Forces said the air ambulance was deployed around 6pm and the flight lasted 6 minutes. The victim remained in hospital on Wednesday. Cork An elderly man has been rushed to hospital after a horrifying farming accident, according to reports. It is understood a bull kicked a gate which crushed the man on his farm, near Macroom, Co Cork, earlier this evening. Four seriously injured in Alton Towers accident

Four people have been seriously injured following a crash at Alton Towers amusement park, involving two carriages on the Smiler attraction. One of the carriages contained 16 guests while the other was empty, they came together on a low section of the track. An Alton Towers spokeswoman said: "The resort's fully qualified first responders were on the scene immediately to assist with the evacuation which is ongoing, and the area has been closed to allow for access to emergency services vehicles. "To ensure the safe and timely evacuation of guests a platform is being constructed. This will take a few minutes but will enable us to proceed more quickly." Enrique Iglesias involved in drone accident

Enrique Iglesias injured two of his fingers trying to grab a drone during a performance in Mexico over the weekend. The 40-year-old Spanish heart-throb tried to grab onto the drone which was being used to take crowd shots during his concert at the Plaza de Toros de Playas in Tijuana. "Something went wrong and he had an accident,"  a spokesperson for the singer said on Instagram. Iglesias continued to perform after the mishap and later flew to Los Angeles to see a specialist.
